Our approach

Grass Routes believes that all staff at all levels can benefit from the power of action centered learning. The lessons learnt through direct experience or through the experience of others remain embedded and extremely beneficial to the individual, the team and ultimately your organisation.

“There is no learning without action and no action without learning.”
Professor Reg Revans (author of Developing Effective Managers, The Origins and Growth of Action Learning and ABC of Action Learning).

Combining training with a project which reflects your Company’s core values can have a dual benefit to your local community, your chosen charity or the environment.

  • teambuilding
  • leadership development
  • communication skills
  • project/time management skills
  • or just for fun!

We can design and implement a course tailoured to you.

“I have been on many management courses that are just theory based and the content doesn’t sink in. With this course you get the chance to put theory into practice, truly analyse your behaviour/performance and look at improvement areas.”
Manager, Clarks

Why CSR and Training?

In recent years greater interest has been taken by shareholders and stakeholders in a Company’s social, environmental and ethical performance. Over half of the FTSE 250 Companies provide public information on their CSR activities in their Annual Reports and Accounts or through a stand alone CSR report.

It is therefore not surprising that Corporate Social Responsibility has risen in importance on the Board Room agenda. In addition in a recent CIPD survey nearly 90% of respondents selected the Company they wanted to work for by the Social values that Company adhered to. Clearly CSR has taken on a greater importance to employees too whether through recruitment or retention.

“..The experience will contribute to their personal development and effectiveness at work, as well as to their life skills. They will also have fun and feel good about their contribution to the community"
Head of training, Rolls Royce

With Training and Team building budgets being squeezed, our unique courses offer value for money and ‘ticks in all boxes’, by delivering quality programmes with a CSR focus.

"Spend your money on the Synergy Programme as you will get a direct return on your investment."

Smaller projects could include:

  • creating a sensory garden for the disabled
  • giving a ‘facelift’ to a play area or youth club
  • decorating a sick child’s bedroom
  • developing a nature reserve
  • building a path or clearing a pond
  • organizing a small fund raising event for your chosen charity

Larger projects could include:

  • Organising and running a weeks holiday camp for disadvantaged children (‘The Synergy Programme’)
  • Organising a large scale charity challenge fundraising event

Working with your people in mind

We want to ensure training is relevant, interesting and tailored to your people according to their needs and experience.

Strenuous efforts are made throughout to draw parallels to the workplace. Research carried out by the Management Research Department of Bristol University on one of our courses tracked a typical group of 16 managers and measured the long term effect on their management skills in 11 areas.

The results showed:-

“65-70% improvement in the delegates performance in all of these skill areas and furthermore that the improvement in these skills had become embedded and carried back to the workplace.”

We also ensure the CSR projects selected will suit the needs of, and engage, all the members in the team.

We are completely health and safety conscious and our competent staff carry out thorough risk assessments and supervise the tasks throughout.

Our flexibility

We are able to offer courses at a time and location to suit you and your chosen CSR project. Training can be for one day or in the case of the Synergy Programme up to 10 days of training spread out over a number of weeks.

Our Track record

Grass Routes has been involved in delivering training programmes for over two decades and more specifically programmes with a CSR focus for over 15 years.
