Meetings
"Too much time’s wasted in meetings about meetings rather than getting on with the bloody job !"
Sir Alan Sugar
During the first part of the workshop participants will be challenged as to what makes an effective board meeting and conversely what factors contribute to poor meetings. They will examine best practice before, during and after a meeting including any legal requirements. This will include agendas, the cost of time, taking minutes, communication - internal and external, tools and technology and conflict resolution.
In the second part of the workshop participants will explore board roles and responsibilities. This workshop will cover the legal status of the organisation and the implications for governance.
The workshop will go on to explore the roles and responsibilities of the board members, chairperson or convenor, treasurer, secretary, co secretary, CEO /MD and the relationship between the board and the CEO/MD and staff.
Participants will go on to understand the optimum size of board, board selection and recruitment and building board diversity.
