Leadership Programme for Year 12
Purpose
The purpose of the programme is to to build confidence, trust, teamwork and self-esteem within the group and to help them to expand their horizons gaining a greater understanding of the wider world and its expectations of them.
The core of the programme is built on the very successful Rotary Youth Leadership Award which Grass Routes have designed and delivered since 2003.
A visit to a higher educational establishment will be included. The programmes outcome should be that those selected can be effective leaders of their pier group and others going forwards.

From the Head of Sixth - Chipping Sodbury School
The Grass Routes programme has developed skills, resilience, leadership and many other qualities in our Sixth Form students. The delivery of the workshops has enabled the students to feel comfortable to confront and overcome some of their fears. Students look forward to the workshops and ask when the next one is.
The teambuilding workshops, climbing and canoeing have been excellent, for students to have this experience in Sixth Form enables them to try out new things in a safe and secure environment. Following the workshops the ‘buzz’ and genuine enjoyment from the student has such a huge impact on raising their self-esteem which in turn has a positive result on their studies.
Having worked with Grass Routes for a number of years I cannot recommend you highly enough as the work you undertake with the students is of such a high quality and engages all groups, it is something as a classroom practitioner we find difficult to replicate in school.

Students must commit to the whole programme and not drift off during the day or not turn up, letting down their own teams. Students on the leadership programme must be volunteers.
Prior to the programme participants will need to be given accurate information before the programme as there is a considerable amount of nonsense reaching participants from various sources about the content of programmes, which is inaccurate and unhelpful.
The programme is for about up to 20 participants.
